Take your health into your own hands today!
Cardiovascular diseases, including stroke, are the nation's number one killer.
To raise awareness about your heart and the risks of cardiovascular diseases, the American Heart Association, in conjunction with the federal government, annually proclaims February to be American Heart Month.
Many factors increase a person's chances of developing some form of cardiovascular disease in their lifetime. The two most important are family history and your own general health, including:
- The food you eat
- The exercise you get
- Whether or not you smoke
Heart disease is a core issue in our society's public debate about our national health. Such public health concerns as the obesity epidemic, accessibility to healthy food, and nutrition education are all forefront in the news recently.
